NASA Lecture Focuses on Potential of Flying Taxis
Parametric Solutions, Inc., is an engineering services enterprise that maintains 300 employees and recently expanded to a third location in Jupiter, Florida. At the core of Parametric Solutions’ value proposition is innovative, project-focused gas turbine engine design and development capacities.
Maintaining a robust professional presence, the company is active with the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), which stands as a preeminent organization in its field. One recent Advanced Air Vehicles Program topic at NASA’s Langley campus, presented by the AIAA president, was on the potential of “flying taxis” as a technology of the future.
As envisioned within the presentation , these aircraft would rely on eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) and combine electric propulsion with autonomous systems that would be linked to a networked system, such as that which powers Uber.
NASA research currently stands at the forefront of battery-powered electric aircraft technologies, which have the potential to “revitalize general aviation.” Many of the key insights would come from those currently powering the emergence of unmanned aircraft such as drones.

How Individuals and Companies Can Take Part in an AHA Walk
Parametric Solutions Inc has been providing gas turbine engine design, analysis, procurement, instrumentation, assembly and testing services for over two decades. A strong believer in corporate social responsibility, Parametric Solutions Inc supports the American Heart Association (AHA) Walk.
Every year, AHA organizes hundreds of walks across the country under the AHA Walk banner to raise funds for cardiovascular research. The walks are an opportunity for people throughout the country to meet, socialize, exercise, and take a stand against heart disease, the leading cause of death in America.
Individuals and companies can both participate in the walk. Individuals can access the AHA website, find a walk near them, and register for it. They can even create a personal fundraising page, set a fundraising goal, and invite their friends and family to donate to the cause. Donations can be made by cash, check, or credit card. These funds will be presented to Heart Walk staff on the day of the walk. Beyond participation, individuals can also volunteer to help with a local event. They can erect tents, register participants, help staff collect funds, and serve food.
Companies can take part by registering employee teams for the walk. This is a good way to promote health and wellness, build employee relations, and perform corporate social responsibility roles. All this is in addition to the funds raised, which help save lives.

From its headquarters in Jupiter, Florida, Parametric Solutions Inc provides mechanical and aerospace engineering solutions for the industrial gas turbine, aviation, and aerospace industries. Dedicated to contributing to non-profit organizations, Parametric Solutions Inc supports the work of the American Heart Association.
Since its establishment in 1924 by six cardiologists, the American Heart Association has grown to encompass more than 22 million supporters and volunteers across the nation. Every year, the organization hosts a variety of walks as fundraisers and opportunities to raise awareness. 2018 Walks in Florida include the following:
• The Palm Beach County Heart Walk will take place on Saturday, November 17, at 8:00am. Covering three miles, the walk will begin at the Meyer Amphitheatre, located at 105 Evernia Street in West Palm Beach. To find out more information, contact Ashley Kastrenakes at 561-697-6658.

American Heart Association Heart Walk
Parametric Solutions Inc is a firm specializing in aircraft and industrial gas turbine engine and component design, analysis, instrumentation, assembly, and testing. Committed to the communities it serves, Parametric Solutions Inc supports a number of nonprofits, including the American Heart Association. One way it does this is by taking part in fundraising events such as the American Heart Association's Heart Walk.
Participants in the Heart Walk can raise funds as individuals or as small teams. Some who walk are passionate about heart health or stroke prevention, while others form teams to more effectively get out the word and concentrate donations. Survivors of heart and circulatory conditions make up a large portion of Heart Walk participants as well and receive a complementary baseball cap in the American Heart Association's signature red color to commemorate their efforts. Some local companies organize their employees in support of Heart Walk events, building teamwork skills and camaraderie in the process.
While these individuals and small teams form the backbone of Heart Walk events, many of the largest donations come from corporations that encourage their employees to participate in nationwide company teams. Employees also receive the health benefits of regular exercise by taking part in a Heart Walk, such as a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

FIRST Robotics’ mentor-facilitated programming strengthens kindergarten through 12th grade students’ abilities in science, technology, engineering, and math and allows new interests to blossom.
The organization sponsors two Lego leagues and a technology challenge, as well as the FIRST Robotics Competition. Open to high school students, the Robotics Competition is structured as a kind of extreme thinking-based sport - mentally and emotionally grueling, but unusually productive and inspiring. The competition teams STEM professionals with the students to work together to find solutions for complex engineering and technology problems. After participation in the Robotics Competition, almost 100 percent of students report being more interested in going to college.
FIRST Robotics got its start more than 25 years ago through the work of entrepreneur and technology education advocate Dean Kamen. It has now achieved worldwide recognition as a leader in tying excitement and fun to STEM-based learning.
